Chapter 15: The Fatty

With every passing minute the horde of zombies still close in on the team, despite waves of lead sent flying at them. Killing the front group only gave way to the group behind them.
"I never thought Boston had so many people!" Kheez cried out, already finding it hard to contain the zombies behind his curtain of flame.
"Maybe its one of those holiday weekends when people come and visit." I said. My machine gun is in Suppress-Fire mode now. It shoots faster but it'd have to stay on the tripod, which means I'm currently immobile. The bullet counter on the topside of my gun barrel, digital with three numbers on it, are now rushing their way down to zero very quickly. When it gets below fifty, the counter will turn from green to yellow. It just did.
"Guys, one minute 'till I reload!"
Night Cat was already on his way down from the building.
"Night, you down yet?" Pyut checked, didn't have time to look around. His eyes were too busy fixing on hostiles ahead.
Night Cat's reply came coupled with a series of gun shots.
"Heading towards the door now." I immediately swung my gun to face the eastern end of the junction, getting ready to support Night Cat as he comes out. The aluminum-framed door crashed open, as Night Cat threw himself out of the building backwards as if still trying to rid himself of pursuers. As he let himself fall onto the ground, a four-legged creature leaped past him from inside the door. With two handguns clad in his hands, Night Cat planted bullets in the creature's belly as it jumped over him. I took aim. The Stalker is well armored. Carelessly shooting at it would be a waste of precious bullets. I had to go for the head. The Stalker landed, and was ready to pounce on Night Cat again. He was down, and at this point helpless. It growled, revealing bloody and sharp row of teeth, already collecting potential energy in its hind legs. Night Cat wasted no time. He reached his gun to the creature's head, and instantly pulled the trigger.
"Click, click, click." Three times he pulled.
"Fuck!" The Stalker roared as it reached for the air, and at that moment Night Cat was staring it straight in the eye. Those pitch black dilated pupils desperately reaching for what little light is in this town. Its head then blew open. Night Cat could hear the whiz of bullets catching wind right before the impact. Two of them took the Stalker's head right off the face of the world, sending blood and brain matter flying.
"Reloading!" I told my team. The two bullets used to save Night Cat were the last of it. I now needed 2 minutes to reload my gun.

Suddenly the series of quakes on the ground made by fatty stopped. We all took a moment to witness it.
"There it is, guys. See it in the flesh." Pyut told us. The fatty was standing not further than 50 meters from us, halt to examine his prey. It was huge. Finally unveiled, this monster was put together using body parts from different... things. Everything was unproportionate. One leg bigger than the other, another hand longer. Even its head was stitched up from two parts. The stitchings were uneven. Made of at least a half-a-meter thick rope, it had gaps all over, and the gaps revealed the fatty's insides.
"This is officially the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. Period." Kheez was now in awe, as the rest of us.
"And your mom?"
Kheez smiled. His insult buddy is back.
"No where close." he replied Night Cat.
It was staring at us now. And we at him. My gun was already reloaded and off Suppress-Mode. It looked right and left, as if checking the surroundings, then back at us.
"Okay fellas. Get ready to move up..." before Pyut could finish cue-ing us to leave, the fatty roared out, releasing chunks of saliva sent hurling at us. At this moment, it seemed like the whole city fell silent to its roar. We could feel it echo across alleys.
"Go, go, go!!!" We all ran upwards. Kheez took lead, torching up any stranded zombies up there. Me and Night Cat concentrated out fire at zombies around the fatty, trying to clear up all distractions so Pyut could do his job.
"How the hell did we end up in this shithole?" Night Cat asked me, surprisingly with no hint of regret or despair.
" Good to have you back Sergeant Major."
